The Sawyer Camp Segment of the Crystal Springs Trail is an absolutely gorgeous multi-use trail that if the kids allowed, I could ride all day long. It is no surprise this trail is incredibly popular. On a weekday, you may get lucky enough to grab an actual parking spot at the southern end of the Sawyer Camp Segment near the Crystal Springs Dam. From the southern end of the trail, head north and enjoy the mix of gorgeous lake views and nice moss-covered shady trees. This trail was completely doable for a 4-year-old who is confident on a pedal bike. However, I would be a bit nervous about bringing a toddler on a balance bike here unless you are sure they will follow directions and not go wild on the downhills (the trail has a lot of traffic, and occasional drop-offs on the side of the trail). This was a great trail to help my child learn trail traffic rules, although I must apologize to everyone who heard me shouting "Stay on the right!" 400 times.
Alert: Very minimal parking. Easy to find a parking spot on a weekday, but could be a challenge on the weekend.
